Should You Give Away Free Or Nearly Free EFT?

A very emotive subject, fully tappable of course!

Whilst it may be common for a mechanic to give a free pre-service check on your car, they would not give you an expensive service for free, including parts and possibly many hours of labour, would they?

And if you visit a supermarket, bakery, or delicatessen, they may offer you a small sample of a promotional item, but they will not give you a whole cake or a whole roast dinner for free, would they?

But for some reason, so many EFT practitioners give their first session away for free, in its entirety. Even if the client only needs one session, as is often the case anyway. So why is this?

There are 10 reasons I have identified. See if any of them resonate with you.

  1. It feels unsafe to make the money. Somehow or other financial security may imply settling down or having to be respectable or responsible, and maybe that is too scary.

  2. Lack of self-worth, therefore not valuing one's time.

  3. For those with a full medical insurance scheme, whether private or government-funded, it seems that every time they go for a medical check-up or treatment, they are going for free. However, that is not true. It is paid for, either by yourself directly, by your employer, or by your taxes.

  4. Not knowing how to be taken seriously by the client and the inability to explain why EFT is so valuable. This makes the client ask for a discount, even though one session of EFT has the power of about 10 sessions of hypnosis or 5 sessions of physiotherapy, for example.

  5. The belief that EFT is a natural gift and so therefore should not be charged for. But then who pays your rent/mortgage/bond/food/electricity/bills/clothing, etc? It has to come from somewhere.

  6. The client being family or friends. But if they were a motor mechanic, would they fix your car completely for free, including spare parts? If so, then it is a fair exchange. If not, well, maybe it is time for a rethink?

  7. Lack of skills or experience. In that case, the practitioner can take more courses or one-to-one or peer supervision to gain more knowledge and charge more for a better service.

  8. Fear of the competition. But if we all keep cut-throat competing with each other, how spiritual is that? Is it really right to drive an honest practitioner out of business just because the practitioner who gives it away for free can afford to do so?

  9. The need to be needed. If offering sessions for free, you will be needed and appreciated. And that is a tappable issue of course.

  10. The belief that the client is helped more when it is free. However, if they actively take part in their treatment by means of payment, is that not giving them more respect and strength?

Of course, this is totally different to the situation where a client genuinely cannot afford the full fee and the practitioner gives a sliding scale, or cases where the client genuinely needs long-term treatment due to chronic disease or extreme trauma, in which case it makes sense to give a frequency discount to help the client attend all the sessions they need to get better.
