Smoking Triggers To Tap On

Are you looking to stop smoking with EFT (or perhaps someone you care for)? If so, it is good to write down a list of when you (or they) are most vulnerable to smoking triggers. Everyone is different, so here are some triggers that I have come across. I hope they help give you ideas of where to start for your smoking triggers tapping.

For most 20-a-day or more smokers, a big one is first thing in the morning. And a hard time is often after breakfast when there is a need to go to toilet. With some ex-smokers-to-be, it is when needing to go to the toilet and having skipped breakfast, also another tappable issue. And for most smokers regardless of how much they normally smoke, a night out with friends can be a problem. The biggest downfall being alcohol, which can trigger cravings badly, as it is not unusual for a smoker to chain smoke with freely-flowing alcohol. After a meal is another common trigger, as if the satiety button in your system depends on a cigarette in order to switch it on. This is followed closely by having a cup of tea or coffee.

At the office is another smoking trigger. You may be used to having three or four cigarette breaks a day, maybe with other smoking comrades or as time on your own away from it all. Some offices even allow smoking in some countries, and that can make it even more of a trigger to be in the office. Stress at work is another common trigger, with specific events like a particular phone call or a particular colleague, boss, or staff member that triggers cravings. After getting off public transport or whilst driving is another one. And strangely enough, playing golf, billiards, having a good session at the gym, or any other sport, is the one time where some ex-smokers have really struggled.

Some recent ex-smokers get cravings when they get an odd sensation in the mouth sometimes, kind of like a metal taste which feels they need something in their mouth. Others get a feeling in the throat or stomach that used to be settled with cigarettes. Again, all these are tappable should they occur.

For those smokers who do not sleep well, it is times when they are awake during the night that are a big trigger. If that is the case with you, it is good to tap on reasons why you are awake during the night, or to work with an experienced practitioner.

I hope this gives you some ideas. Make a list of your triggers and tap on them one by one till they are all zero. If they come up again for you, there may be aspects which were missed the first time around, so tap on them again. Imagine how great you will feel when everything is finally a complete zero!

A virus caught along with 5 other students at university at the end of 1986, plus medical negligence, meant that I got smokers lung at a relatively young age. In desperation for help with my symptoms and quality of life, I turned to complementary therapy, and I have outlived one doctor's prognosis by many years now. I am now a complementary therapist, author of the Stop Smoking E-book at http://www.stop-smoking-ebooks.com and trainer specializing in energy healing. Want to use this article?
