What Is EFT Versus MTT?
What is the difference between EFT and MTT? This is a common question, and both terms are used on this site.
EFT stands for the Emotional Freedom Techniques, and MTT stands for Meridian Tapping Techniques. In some ways
EFT can be considered to be a subset of MTT. MTT is a broader term that incorporates all therapeutic approaches in
Energy Psychology that involve tapping on acupuncture points on the body's energy meridians. MTT includes standard
EFT as well as variations and extensions to EFT. Some variations are different enough from EFT that it was felt that a
new term was needed.
A couple of the variations/extensions to EFT include the Choices Method and Matrix Reimprinting. Please note that it
is possible that some future MTT methods may deviate so much from EFT, that they should be considered very separate
techniques that just happen to have tapping on acupucture points in common with EFT.
